Popular Wats

Thai temples serve as community gathering places. Rituals and social gatherings take place in Wats.  Thais show respect for their relgion (Buddhism) by entering the Wat compunds only wearing formal dress. Tourists should abide by the formal dress code.

Many Wats are best seen in the morning when the sun beams down on east facing temple fronts.
